. The Hands-On Project
“The Hands On Project grew from a love of stories woven in thread—of symbols, patterns, and traditions passed gently from one generation to the next. Our workshops invite children to step into that living heritage, learning through play, and imagination"

We are a non profit educational project aiming to engage future generations into customizing their own garments utilizing simplified traditional textiles techniques from ancient cultures.
The Hands On Project aims to connect, first the children with their caregivers, then both of them with the traditions that have contributed to form the history of textile culture, and lastly with others and the world at large.
Our old traditions are in danger of becoming extinct, it is up to the younger generations to care for them, to learn about where they come from and how the work is performed, which materials are used and how the people used those textile languages to communicate their stories.
Our workshops bring those traditions to children and their familes to learn and practice.
